Hope in Transition: by Sydney Marple

For my final blog post, I wanted to talk about hope. The end of my time as a Fellow has brought excitement and relief, but also deep sadness and grief. This year didn’t look anything like we thought it would, but there was far more feast than famine. As the next big transition looms and we prepare to launch, I am reminded to hold on to hope.

I am hopeful that we will all depart from Fellows but not leave our connections behind. I hope we remember that even though we may not live within 10 feet of each other any more, our lives and stories will always be interconnected.

I am hopeful that we will all get to transition into a job we love. The job hunt can be exhausting and discouraging and I hope we all remember to encourage and uplift one another as we move into the next stage.

I hope we stay present in the lives of the Allen family and continue to delight in them as much as they have in us. I hope we stay curious and aren’t too proud to ask for help from the family who has freely offered it.

Lastly, I hope we take what we’ve learned and try. This year we learned so much about building community and being in the world and I hope we don’t shy away from doing the hard work. Through the feast and the famine of the next year, I hope our family stays a family.
